Due to the club ’ s geographical location , the team has to endure regular long treks and this season will clock up another 8,000 miles on the road to fulfil their fifteen away fixtures . This requires an enormous commitment from the players and coaching staff but the fans continue to show their appreciation by making them the best supported home team in National League 2 South .
Season 2016 / 17 has so far seen ‘ The Reds ’ maintain a top five position and they will be keen to match or improve on last season ’ s finishing position of 4th in the league . Marek Churcher , the current Exeter Chiefs Academy Coach at Truro College , has settled in quickly as Head Coach of ‘ The Reds ’ and the team ’ s style of play has given their large numbers of dedicated supporters very entertaining and exciting rugby at the Recreation Ground .
The playing squad has seen various personnel changes in recent months which has resulted in a blend of players with experience and youthful enterprise which all bodes well for the rest of the season ’ s campaign .
Club captain Sam Parsons has led by example playing at centre and , with the luxury of having a robust and physical pack of forwards , the Reds have adopted a style of play which has seen the outsides run in numerous tries and in particular wing Alex Ducker who has already amassed 22 touchdowns .
