ounded in 1875 ,
Redruth RFC is a Cornish club with a proud and action packed history .
Based at the Recreation Ground in Redruth with its famous ‘ Hellfire Corner ’, many high profile representative fixtures have been hosted by the club over the decades with a variety of international teams visiting , including the mighty New Zealand ‘ All Blacks ’.
For a long period of time , the Recreation Ground was the third largest rugby union venue in England and in 1969 a crowd of in excess of twenty thousand spectators witnessed Cornwall play Lancashire at Redruth in the English County Championship Final .
The club continues to produce a large number of players for the Cornwall team which has now won the Bill Beaumont Cup Final at Twickenham for the two past seasons in front of a large contingent of loyal travelling support including ‘ Trelawny ’ s Army ’, the Cornish rugby supporters club .
With the introduction of league rugby in season 1987 / 88 , Redruth immediately won promotion to the national leagues and have proudly remained in level 4 or above ever since . In 2005 , the club reached its highest ever ranking by winning promotion to National Division 1 and finished 4th in that league during the 2006 / 7 season .
