Devonport High School Old Boys

RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

evonport High School Old Boys ( DHSOB ) RFC is based at Stonehouse Creek on
Kings Road in Plymouth and their first team currently competes in the Tribute Devon 2 League . They are led by Chairman Steve Poole who is supported by Secretary Karen Cook and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance .
Over the years the club has put together a history of which they have every right to be proud of , with their first meeting taking place on Tuesday 17th September 1929 . This came a year after Rugby had been introduced at Devonport High School with school leavers forming the nucleus of the Old Boys Rugger Club .
The current group of players will be looking to add to the club ’ s proud history over the coming years , especially with their centenary year approaching in less than fifteen years .
So far this season , it would be fair to say that their first team has not perhaps enjoyed the campaign that they would have liked , having put together a record of four wins and nine defeats from their thirteen matches . This has left them sitting near the bottom of the table with eight points .
They will now be looking to put together a good run of form in order to finish in the best league position possible . This would also give them momentum heading into the offseason as they look to build for their 2017 / 18 campaign .
This is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a number of youth sides in place . These teams look to provide young players from the local area with an opportunity to enjoy the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential .
It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period of time to be able to produce their own talent , particularly in the current financial climate . It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters are able to progress over the coming years . Although DHSOB RFC has not perhaps had the season that they would have liked , this should not take away from the good work being carried out at the club . If they continue in the same manner then it should only be a matter of time before results start to improve . www . rugbyclub . biz 117
