The club recently held a mini-festival for their U11s and U12s which turned out to be a great day for everyone involved . In total , 360 players from fifteen different clubs took part in a total of fifty six games of rugby . The games were non-competitive meaning that the scores aren ’ t collected and every team has the same amount of playing time .
There were no group matches with the emphasis being placed on fun , enjoyment and player development . It was generally found that when asked players suggested the best thing about rugby was the chance to play with friends and Age Grade Rugby delivers this objective without the pressure of competition with the idea being that no one is a loser and everyone is a winner . The success of the tournament was largely thanks to the hard work that volunteers put in to ensure it was well run and they deserve tremendous credit for this .
Despite a disappointing campaign at first team level , there is much to admire about the fine set up that Colchester RFC currently has in place . They play in a vital role in their local community and hopefully will be able to continue to do so for many years to come . Rugby Club Magazine wishes them the best of luck .
