Founded in 1973 as a Rugby Union Club , Halifax evolved in to one of the founding members of Rugby League ( then called ‘ The Northern Union ’) in 1895 .
Since then , the small-town has made a name for itself all over the world , with rich sporting heritage spanning from an impressive record of achievement and the dedication of local people .
With a no doubt exhilarating season on the horizon , the Club have geared up for 2017 – but certainly won ’ t be forgetting the past …
Elcons launch Away Kit
The new 2017 away kit received a tremendous reception when it was launched on Christmas Day , and with it came a brand new vital sponsor ; Employment Law specialist Elcons Ltd .
Born and bred in St Helens , Managing Director John was no stranger to Rugby League , being a lifelong Saints supporter who had coached junior sides at Pilkington Recs and later Littleborough . He moved to Ripponden later , where he established his practice in Ripponden , Halifax .
With many friends already Halifax supporters , John found his way down to occasional matches at The Shay , and when he was approached as a potential sponsor of the new away shirt it didn ’ t take him long to see the benefits .
“ I ’ m always interested in anything that will promote my business and benefit the local area at the same time , this is ideal ,” said John , who will also be entertaining colleagues and guests at several matches and promoting the business through ground signage .
“ I ’ m impressed with Richard Marshall and his philosophy of investing in the youngsters through the reserve system , and I ’ m looking forward to being part of a great season at Halifax ”.
