Westcliff must adapt to stay in contention.
As previously mentioned, Westcliff
do not pay players and this is one of our
core values, and there will be swelling
pressure in the future. This is something
we do hope to avoid, but it has become
increasingly difficult as an amateur club
to play against semi-professional clubs.
Finally, the clubhouse and pitches
are moving as Southend Airport is
expanding and needs to make way for
infrastructure. The clubhouse is only
moving to an adjacent field, but some
serious man hours will be required
to ensure the move is successful, the
clubhouse is finished in time and the new
pitches are playable at the start of the
new season (2017/2018).”
Ambitions

not been mentioned already. Of course,
it would be fantastic to play rugby in
Accountancy and business
advice that takes you
over the line!
National Two or even National One, it
would be excellent to get five teams out
again every week plus the occasional
veterans side, and would be great if we
could get a ladies side out as well.
I sincerely hope that we can stick to
our core values with our views on paying
players and entry charges but it is very
difficult to know what the future holds.
All I know is that I love Westcliff RFC,
and I hope that new members will come
to love it as much as I do!”
