“ We are delighted that our mini and junior section is for the first time in years producing players in every age group . We have to thank our volunteers for this , the dedication and commitment they give to get those teams out on the field is so much more than just a few hours every Sunday morning but it is an extraordinary and heart-warming sight to see dozens of children running around , in the colours of their local club enjoying themselves and playing the game .
“ We are a Community Amateur Sports club , the Recreation Ground , our home for over 100 years sits in the heart of the town , Rugby among the rooftops as we like to say . We see ourselves as a central part of our community , the ground hosts funfairs , stunt shows and circuses when they visit the town . It is the home of the town Carnival , venue for car boot sales and provides ad hoc car parking for other events in the town . Our clubhouse is also the home for many other groups within the Community , dance groups , fitness clubs , Pendennis brass band and the famous Falmouth Marine Band .
“ It could be that the next few years could be the most monumental for the club in living memory , the club is in negotiation with a developer to sell some land it owns on the outskirts of the town . If the deal is successful the club will be able to secure its future for generations to come .
“ Falmouth are looking to secure use of two playing fields in the town and has the intention of redeveloping the Recreation ground with a completely new facility fit for the 21st century . We hope this will encompass a new clubhouse , changing rooms , gym , conference and function suite , catering facilities and an integral stand . We will also be working with other clubs and groups in the community to see how we can incorporate other facilities for the benefit and use of the wider community .
“ With all that occurring both on and off the field , these are exciting times , the club hopes to develop a facility at the heart of Falmouth that is the pride of the community with a rugby side to match .”
