orwich Rugby Club is
based at Beeston Hyrne on
North Walsham Road and
their first team currently competes in
the London 2 North East League. They
are led by the team of President Graham
Hilton and Chairman Bob Annable and
the club is looking to progress under
their guidance.
They were recently given a major
boost with the news that they have had
a planning proposal approved to relocate

the club to the UEA Sports Fields at
Colney. Speaking after the result on their
official website, www.lionrugby.com,
Chairman Bob Annable said, “I know
some of you attended today’s hearing
and many of you will no doubt also be
aware of the positive result through the
media coverage.
“We should be really proud of the
outcome and many congratulations go
to Andy Pott and Steve Henson for their
tireless work on this project to date over
the last two years or so.
“There were some very passionate
and emotional objectors particularly from
the Yare Valley association, Cringleford
PC and Colney PC (supported by the
County Council) but it was a privilege
to see real Democracy in action as the
Committee members opined on the
application thankfully in our favour.
