Our mini/junior setup is of paramount importance and is
one of the largest of its kind in the country. Over 900 boys and
girls are registered and are looked after by a huge and well
qualified coaching staff. Player safety is the first priority, closely
followed by ensuring everyone is having fun. Excellence at the
basic footballing skills is encouraged from the earliest age and
develops naturally as the child progresses. This is far more
important than what might be termed a ‘winning mindset’. The
youngsters do compete and if titles accrue that’s well and good;
that’s not as important as a happy, shared experience.
Three young men represented their country last season, one
of them for Ireland and can look forward to exciting times ahead.
Over twenty of the young ladies got to County standard and two
Junior ‘Saints’ joined the England development squad.
