Atmosphere
“ The mood here is buoyant . Although we were relegated from National One last season after eight seasons at Level 3 we see it as a fresh start . We have had four seasons in a row of relegation dogfights . We have also had two turbulent seasons of coaching changes but since November 2015 myself and our coaching team have been able to bring stability to the club and we approach this season with a rebuilt squad and renewed enthusiasm .”
Present
“ We have made some significant signings and the squad will take time to gel but we have worked hard in preseason . The players have taken on board a lot of information and have worked hard on their conditioning .
Our plans for next season are simply to try and be as competitive as we can in every game - thirty in total . We want to prepare well during the week at training every week so that when we leave training we know that if we play well on Saturday we have a chance of winning - home or away . There are no grand statements about winning the league because we have not been competitive on a week in week out basis for a long time now . We need to get that right first .”
Youth
“ Youth rugby is vital to us . We already have a talented group of 17 to 21 year olds working with the senior squad . Several have already played 1st XV rugby . We run many junior sides and have won , over the years , several county age group trophies . Last season our Under 14 ’ s were county champions . Cinderford RFC needs to keep , develop and nurture its own local talent .”
Integration
“ We currently run 4ths ( Bucks ), 3rds ( Stags ), 2nds ( United ) all playing league rugby and therefore do have a pathway for young players to develop at the correct pace according to their ability and hard work that they put in . We provide coaching for all sides . The United play in the London Zoo Shield which involves a lot of
