Cinderford FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Cinderford RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB C inderford RFC endured the disappointment of relegation last season but has been working hard during the summer to make sure that they are able to bounce back this time around. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with their Director of Rugby Paul Morris to find out more. Involvement He told us, “I joined Cinderford RFC in the summer of 2011 as United (2nd XV) Coach/Manager. Previously I had coached Old Patesians RFC, Cheltenham North RFC, Coney Hill RFC and had worked for Gloucestershire RFU as Under 20’s coach and coach of the Senior County squad. As a player I played my entire career for Old Patesians RFC - 28 years in total. I was attracted to Cinderford RFC because it’s a club I had always enjoyed playing and coaching against. I like the fact it’s a community club and the facilities are second to none. I also wanted to work with Andy Deacon who was then the Director of Rugby. I ascended to Director of Rugby in late November 2015 following the departure of Nic Corrigan.” The Role “The most challenging aspects are the selection and man management of the players. Although I am quite proud of my coaching CV I am now, at 54, happy to leave that side to a younger very talented group of coaches we have employed at Cinderford RFC. I am determined to create a pathway for local Cinderford/Forest boys to reach Cinderford 1st XV. As a semiprofessional club we will always attract players from around the county but genuine Cinderford boys in the 1st XV would be great for the town and the club. However, they have to be good enough for the level of rugby our 1st XV are playing.” C And J's Bakery 21 Market Street Cinderford 01594 822 133 C and J’s Bakery have had a long and positive association with Cinderford RFC. Chris told Rugby Club Magazine, “It must be over 15 years now that we have been supplying the club and long may it continue. Myself and everybody at C and J’s would like to wish everybody at Cinderford RFC the very best of success for the coming season!” 42 Issue 65
