But otherwise, it is up to the club to develop its future players. “The facilities are well used by ‘outside’ groups throughout the year with the clubhouse being regularly used for various social functions. The club’s rugby programme is well publicised and, at the moment, the summer touch rugby evening is proving to be very popular. “The club has done well during the past twelve months with a group of members being involved in a major refurbishment project. The RFU’s ‘World Cup Grant’ proved to be particularly useful and was used to expand the clubhouse space and to give the whole area a much needed ‘face lift’. “However, the playing facilities are in need of improving with the shower area being a constant embarrassment on match days. The main pitch struggles to cope with the constant demand for a match pitch. During the forthcoming season the main pitch will have to cope with a senior game on the Saturday and then a youth game on Sunday morning and a Colts game on Sunday afternoon. “We are now looking at the possibility of applying to the RFU for some financial support that would enable the club to install a 4G pitch. It is then hoped to establish a women’s team at the club. “One of the biggest challenges for us is that the club struggles to have sufficient volunteers to undertake the various committee and match day tasks. The main pitch playing surface is a cause for concern and a solution will have to be found as soon as possible. “Our ambitions for the future will be for the 1st team to gain promotion back to level 6, with the Junior teams continuing to be well supported. It would also be ideal to have the main pitch replaced by a 4G surface.” 8 Issue 64 AMREEN and her husband Imran Younis started their taxi business, 1st Central Cars of Walsall, on August 19th 2015.
