Pulborough
Pulborough girls
The club also has a thriving
Girls section with their U18s
claiming glory in the National Cup
competition. Mike Fisher took the
time to tell us more saying, “I have
been involved with Pulborough
since my son was 6 years old so
some 11 years ago.
“Being previously a ‘lifer’ to the
round ball game I fell out of love
with the sport due to the lack of
values. Pulborough was the local
side and I popped along with many
new parents to a first training session
in September 2004 and have been
involved ever since.
“I think the most challenging
element of setting up a girls section
has been having the patience you
need to build up playing numbers. It
takes time to promote the girls game
and get the message out there that it
is a great game to play.
“The girls were desperate to play
games but when you start with 3 or 4
girls per age group that can be a bit
of a challenge! The most rewarding
aspects are the enjoyment of all
the girls in playing a team game.
They play with amazing spirit, and
whether they win or lose they always
have a huge smile of their faces!
