Blackwood Stars the club for me was the community atmosphere where although rugby is top of the list the social element that comes with it is also very important.” The Role “The most rewarding part for me is on a Saturday afternoon watching the team put in a committed performance and then seeing happy faces on players, members and committee men in the club after the game. Success is always good but it is the participation of players and members that is vitally important and the community vibe that this creates. The club has never been frightened of failure because if it was the club wouldn’t be where it is today. We call the club the Stars family and anybody who leaves are always welcomed back to the Stars family if things do not work out. The most challenging aspect is trying to keep everybody happy and motivated as well as building a vibrant atmosphere to encourage players to join the club. The recruitment and retention of players is becoming increasingly difficult, mainly because of the many different activities available to youngsters together with the ever increasing amount of live sport shown on TV.” Atmosphere “Currently the mood in the club is very positive. We have just started pre-season training and turn out has been very good considering we are in the holiday season. We have already recruited 5 new players and we are very optimistic that we will be challenging at the top of the league at the end of the season.” SUMMER OFFERS Tooth Whitening £180 LAFFAN Dental Care Laffan Dental Care, 205-207 Blackwood High Street Gwent, NP12 1AA 13 miles from Cardiff.
