RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
F
irst established in 1928, Old Caterhamians RFC currently runs three senior men’s
teams, a ladies side, minis, juniors and an Academy side. We recently caught up
with their Chairman George Williams to find out more about the good work that they

Involvement
He said, “I have been involved with
the club for over 27 years, initially joining
as a social member while still coaching
my son and a group of his friends at
another local Rugby club. On joining I

friendly and welcoming atmosphere and
before long was convinced by my son,
his friends, who were all now attending
Caterham School, and their parents to
start up a Junior Under 12 team.
I was always impressed with the
structure at the Old Cats and how

support the complete range of teams from
Minis all the way through to the senior

still running out on a Saturday to fill the
gaps when required, everyone supports
each other.”

school is keen to support and promote
the club and its facilities as a part of the
local community.
This year it has been agreed by the
School that they are going to build a
Multi-Million pound new Pavilion to
host both the school and the expanding
Rugby clubs requirements. This will be a
very challenging year as the new Pavilion
is built and the old one demolished. On
top of that the school has invested in the
main pitch, both levelling the area and
putting in drainage.
This has added to our challenges, as
it is the pitch we use for training under
