Avonvale WF Dolman & Son Family Funeral Directors Wishing Avonvale RFC all the best for the coming season. consists of about 85 per cent of players that have come through the Mini and Youth system. “We have age groups from under 7s to under 18s and a good set of coaches who give their time generously. We are an RFU Accredited Club which is an honour we worked hard to get and we continue to try and make our coaches better so they can make the players better. “The mood at the club at the moment is very good, we provide rugby for about 200 people of all age groups, the committee work hard to improve everything we do and we organize a few social events which are well supported by everyone. “In the past we have struggled for players but the last two years we have finished 3rd in the league and fielded a team for every game. This season we have a new coaching team and we are looking to get promotion and try and field a 2nd XV for the 1st time in 10 years. “Having youth rugby is probably the most important thing at the club as it produces your own players; without our youth system we would not have a senior team and the club would probably have folded a few years ago. “We try and make the transition from Youth to Senior level as smooth as possible by involving the Youths and Seniors together at training. The Youths enjoy learning from the Seniors and when they play Senior rugby they do it with their mates. We try and run social events involving Seniors and Youths which also helps everyone to get to know each other. “I would consider us to be a Community club as we also have a cricket team which use the club and we hold social Great value, provincial French cooking served in our relaxed and friendly bistrot Bath 4 Princes Buildings George Street Bath BA1 2ED 01225 321 840 Weston-super-Mare Princess Royal Square Beach Road Weston-super-Mare BS23 1AT 01934 643 972 events which a lot of the villagers attend. The long term ambition is to get as many teams as possible onto the field to give enjoyment to as many people as possible and hopefully to gain a promotion or two along the way.” www.sportip.biz 33
