Beckenham for the 1st XV and it will certainly be exciting to see how they are able to develop over the coming years. In order to help their young players successfully make the transition into senior rugby Beckenham also have a number of additional senior sides in place. This allows them to give their youngsters experience of adult level rugby even if they are not yet considered ready for first team action. The number of sides the club runs also serves to demonstrate their commitment to playing an important role in their local community. They deserve a tremendous amount of credit for this side of their set-up which is a reflection of the effort that is put in by their Committee in order to make it a success. Another benefit of having more than one senior team is that it allows the first team to have far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or work commitments then they can call players up with a limited amount of disruption. Beckenham RFC is a terrific example of the important role that a club can play in their local community. The work that they are doing at present should put them in a good position to go on and enjoy a successful future. Everyone at Rugby Club Magazine would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck for the new season. www.sportip.biz 23
