club but can’t spare an hour to turn up to a meeting or just do
something to help out.
The most rewarding part of the job is seeing the club
benefit from my work on the committee. Last year I, along with
another clubman, organised our first 7s tournament which was
a massive success. We recently held our second tournament
and this event has helped put us back on the rugby map and
also bring much needed income into the club. I am also very
proud of the ladies team and U15 girls which I started up.”
Atmosphere
“With both teams having won their leagues, the mood is
AWESOME at the moment. We are very much looking forward
to the new season and there is a very positive atmosphere even
though its closed season.”
Ladies
“Last season was a bit rocky. We lost our coach but after he
left and we took matters into our own hands with his assistant
coach Laura Heatley and a player, Bernadette Chubb, taking
over things went from strength to strength. It’s definitely ‘girl
power’ at the moment!
Even though we finished near the bottom of the table we
aren’t worried. We did have a lot of injuries which meant
fulfilling fixtures was an issue, but at this level in the women’s
