eovil Rugby Club enjoyed a season to remember last time around with their first team
winning promotion top the Dorset Wilts 2 South League. We recently caught up with
their Secretary Alice Edmonds t find out how the club’s preparations for the new
campaign are coming along.
Involvement
She started by telling us about her
involvement with the club, saying,
“I first started playing rugby and my
involvement with Ivel Barbarians (the
clubs former name) in 2002 when I
dropped out of university.

I’d always had a burning desire to
play rugby despite not ever liking other
sports on offer at school and regularly
getting a note to miss PE! Except for the
one term when the girls were allowed
to play rugby. I never missed it then
and turned out I wasn’t too shabby at it
either.”
The Role
“I guess the most challenging part of
the role is not being able to do enough!
I am always taking on more than I can
actually manage as I just want to help.
