Next season they will be playing clubs with wage bills in excess of £ 1 million , but Richmond as a club has decided not to change its way as it does not see Championship rugby as a business opportunity .
The club hopes that , in addition to its core of current players that have won 23 of 28 games so far this season and been unbeaten since December , others will be attracted to a way of playing rugby that allows them time also to develop other careers .
All in all , Richmond runs 5 men ’ s sides , a vets side and a U21team , plus 3 women ’ s XVs ( including this year ’ s English Premiership champions ), and a thriving youth and minis sections – making 800 players and 2000 senior members .
