RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
T
he Isle of Wight Rugby Club (IWRFC), formed in 1924, is the oldest rugby club on the
Island, having recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. As a club that has such a long
history, members of IWRFC have spent much time and energy in the last few years
investing in its future to make sure it lives up to its reputation as being the friendliest and most
welcoming club on the Island.
Recently the club has undertaken
a range of award-winning projects to
improve the facilities it offers to players
and spectators alike. The club’s recently
appointed Chairman, Ollie Boulter,
explained, “The previous Chairman,
Nick Puckett, alongside the committee
recognised improvements could be
made and worked tremendously hard
to bring investment into the club”. This
hard work behind the scenes has also
been recognised at the national level by
winning a prestigious RFU Presidents
Award for Club Management in 2015.

was
the
installation of the new floodlights in
2015 which means the club can now
offer floodlit training sessions and,
most excitingly, play competitive
and friendly games through the
winter months. The floodlights have
been so impressive they’ve won
awards from the local CPRE branch,
