They are based on Platts Lane in Leicestershire and the club is run out of a pub as they currently do not have their own clubhouse. They are led by the team of President James Sansam and Chairman Chris Thompson and have made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. They are a club that is committed to playing an important role in their local community and work hard to raise money for a number of charities as well as doing an annual truck run, where players pull trucks for a distance to raise money. They pride themselves on being a family based club and always provide new players or supporters with a warm welcome. This season their first team will be playing in the Midlands 4 East (South) 82 Issue 63 League after finishing 5th last year; there highest ever position. They finished with a record of ten wins and ten defeats from their twenty matches which saw them finish with 46 points on the board. This should provide them with a solid platform upon which to build as they look ahead to their 2016/17 campaign. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of pushing on up the table. So far their pre-season has been positive as Head Coach Brian Taylor explained to their official website, saying, “The fitter we are, the better the rugby will be. “I would … like to say well done to the new lads; you are very much part of the Sileby family and I hope you enjoy playing your rugby with us. “It’s good to see some of the long term injured returning to the training ground. You add greater depth to our playing squad. “Finally if you haven’t started preseason, now is the time to start, and if anyone out there wants to join our great club, you are more than welcome.” Sileby Town is not a club that focuses solely upon their first team however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a 2nd team in place which serves as a development side. This allows them to give far more players an opportunity to play the game each week. A major benefit of having an extra side is that it allows the first XV to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or work commitments they have the option of calling up players with a limited amount of disruption. There is much to admire about the fine set up that Sileby Town currently has in place and hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come.
