players at the club from under 6’s upwards, and we are growing
all the time. We have several players in the senior teams who
have come through the youth set-up, and we recognise that the
kids who enjoy their rugby on a Sunday morning are the future
of the club.”
Integration
“We have got this wrong in the past, the last Colts players
to come into senior rugby were integrated for no contact with
the seniors, and a Colts coach came into the senior set-up, this
seemed to work. We have players or ex-players involved in
coaching with most age groups, and this should enable some
continuity in transition.”

Fencing Ltd recently spoke to Rugby Club
Magazine, saying, “I played for Tamworth as a
front row forward from the age of seventeen up
until five years ago when myself and a group of
friends played our last game in a charity match.
It’s wonderful to see the club enjoying such a
great season throughout.
In particular I have the utmost of respect for
our senior coach Jez Sandhu who stepped up
at the beginning of the season under difficult
circumstances. My son Matthew, who is currently
up at UCLAN studying criminology, is also a front
row player for Tamworth having come through
the junior ranks as a seven year old.
A recent club tour to the Czech Republic really
epitomised the sport I love when young and
older players were all sitting around mingling
with other rugby guys we had just met. The
camaraderie and atmosphere was fantastic and I
turned to a friend and said, ‘what other sport can
you get this in?”
