acclesfield RUFC has
enjoyed a season to
remember this time
around with their 1st XV claiming a league
and cup double. We recently caught up
with Club Representative Jonathan Marsh
to gain an insight into what has been
behind their success.
Involvement
He told us, “I played most of my rugby
for school and county (Oxfordshire) and
latterly the British Army. Apart from
the odd game I have never played Club
rugby. I had watched a few games at
Macclesfield and enjoyed the atmosphere
and the quality of the rugby so when
my Son moved to Secondary School I
encouraged him to join the club. He had
some great times here and made some
lifelong friends, he always visits when he
is back from university. The club is now
part of my life.
Every day is a new challenge, I could
be organising a function for 150 people
one day and talking to sponsors the next.
It is a very diverse role but very rewarding
especially when we are winning of
course.”
Atmosphere
“There is a great buzz about the place
at the moment; we are all on a high after
our most successful season in our long
history. We won the league, the Cheshire
Cup and the 2nds also won their league.
The Mini & Junior teams have also had a
great time and most are now recovering
from gruelling end of season tours.
