RUGBY union FOOTBALL CLUB
O
ver recent seasons Bicester
RUFC is a club that has
been making some superb
progress both on and off the field. We
recently caught up with their Club
Captain Dan Spencer to find out more
about the set up that they have in place.
He told us, “I have been involved with
the club from mini and junior age groups
all the way through to the senior set up.
My parents have been involved in the
running of the club and my father used to
also play here, he was part of the 1991 and
1992 teams that made it to Twickenham
in the provincial cup finals against
Bradford Salem. Those finals have been
the highlight of the clubs history along
with the odd county cup final here and
there over the years, the colts and Mini
and junior section also have a decorated
64 Issue 63
history with multiple teams reaching and
winning county cup finals and
various other competitions.”

the
managerial
team we have in
place
combined
with the players
have
started
to build on the
past success and
the club is now
progressing on all
fronts, the senior
side currently put
out 3 teams most
weekends along with
a Colts team on a Sunday.
Two seasons ago the 1sth XV
were promoted to Southern Counties
North where we finished 5th in the
league.
“This
season
we
finished fourth, this is
the highest the club
has ever played
and over the next
3 or 4 season we
are looking to
better this and
progress, looking
for
promotion
into
South
West 1 East and
then
establishing
ourselves
in
that
league.
“Our second team also
had a strong season, finishing
