Potential
“ We have some promising youngsters in the junior teams , with several county players , and players involved in the Leicester development program . Our under 17 ’ s have been County champions for the last 5 seasons , and we are excited at the prospect of some of those players coming through to senior rugby in the next few years .”
Challenges
“ We need to make sure we offer good facilities , we are doing very well at the moment , but we are all aware that player retention in all sports is a challenge . We are looking at improving our car parking , and playing areas . It is important to build on work we have carried out over the last few years to provide more floodlit areas for midweek training .
Ambitions
“ On the playing side we want to continue to grow the junior section , and to re-introduce ladies ’ rugby . The 1st XV need to establish themselves in the league above . We are blessed with a fantastic Georgian lodge as a clubhouse , but we need to redevelop the extension to provide more changing rooms and function facilities .”

Martyn Bowden sponsors Tamworth RUFC with his business UK Jetpower Ltd . He recently told Rugby Club Magazine , “ My business takes me all over the world so unfortunately I only managed to play six or seven 1st team games last season . I have played for Tamworth since I was a five year old and I am now thirty years of age . I have also had a few seasons away at Nuneaton in later years .
The senior teams have had a great season this year and a full coaching and playing squad has been essential and made all the difference . I would like to wish everyone associated with the club all the very best next season !”
At South Staffordshire College we offer a range of qualifications covering Sport and fitness . These include academic routes in Sports Science to help progression to University as well as vocational qualifications to allow Learners to become qualified Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers before entering into employment . As part of this Learners also have the opportunity to take part in our extensive enrichment activities including cycling at the GB Velodrome , nutritional seminars at The Etihad Stadium and regional Futsol competitions as well as opportunities to participate in skiing , snowboarding and ice skating .
