Vandals
RFC is based at
Brownacres
off
Walton Lane in Surrey and they
currently compete in the London 2
South West League. They are led by the
team of President Ken Perry and Chair
Simon Rabett and the club is looking to
progress under their guidance.
It was first established in the early
1930’s when Frederick Monkhouse and
John Scurr looked at starting a team made
up from members of the London School
of Economics. They issued an invitation
for anyone interested to attend a meeting
at the Ship Tavern in Gate St, Holborn on
18th March 1932.
They established the aim, “to add
to the athletic reputation of London
94 Issue 61
University and to provide rugger teams
for past students”. Since then the club has
gone on to put together a history of which
they have every right to be proud.
So far this season it would be fair to
say that the team has not perhaps enjoyed
the campaign that they would have liked,
putting together a record of four wins
and fifteen defeats from their nineteen
league matches. This sees them lying near
the bottom of the table with twenty two
points.
They will now be looking
to win their remaining
games in order to
finish as high up
the league as
possible.
A couple
of wins would help to boost the club and
give them a better p latform to build from
over the summer months.
One of the highlights of the Weybridge
Vandals set up is the superb youth set
up that they have in place. This part of
the club looks to provide young players
from the local area with an opportunity
to play the game in a safe and enjoyable
environment whilst helping them to reach
their full potential.
