When the club first started, the town was more football orientated, but we have now got rugby coaching within the school curriculum, for both boys and girls. This has resulted in attracting more young players from the surrounding areas. Some other groups in Moffat now use the club facilities on a regular basis. “Last year the club were promoted, as champions from BT West Division 4, after narrowly losing out on promotion the year previous, by only one point. Our aim is to continually improve, with the aim of becoming champions again in the near future. “Moffat Rugby Club host an annual tens tournament in August, attracting clubs from both sides of the border. Moffat Rugby Club also plays beach rugby at Islay. This has been occurring annually since 2003. The event has now grown so big our team travel on the Thursday to set up camp, returning home on the Monday. Without the juniors there would be no seniors. “Our aims and ambitions for the future years would be to increase from one team to possibly two teams at senior level. We aim to keep our good standard of rugby, and positive attitude towards the game.
