Moffat
from fundraising and support at both
home and away matches. When the club
first started, the town was more football
orientated, but we have now got rugby
coaching within the school curriculum,
for both boys and girls. This has resulted
in attracting more young players from the
surrounding areas. Some other groups
in Moffat now use the club facilities on a
regular basis.
“Last year the club were promoted,
as champions from BT West Division 4,
after narrowly losing out on promotion
the year previous, by only one point. Our
aim is to continually improve, with the
aim of becoming champions again in the
near future.
“Moffat Rugby Club host an annual
tens tournament in August, attracting

Rugby Club also plays beach rugby at
Islay. This has been occurring annually
since 2003. The event has now grown so

“Every club will have challenges, but
keeping the juniors focused, wanting to
play and enjoy rugby is a must. Without
the juniors there would be no seniors.
“Our aims and ambitions for the
future years would be to increase from
one team to possibly two teams at senior
level. We aim to keep our good standard
of rugby, and positive attitude towards
the game. Hopefully this would result in
some attractive rugby, being played in
higher leagues.”
