uernsey Raiders RFC has a proud and unique history. After being established in
1913, the Club has survived the Occupation of Guernsey during World War 2 and the
ongoing challenges that come with being a club based on a small island.
Guernsey is the second largest island
in the Channel Islands, with a current
population of around 65,000 people.
Jersey, the largest of the islands with
99,500 people, is our oldest foe, with the
Siam Cup having been played annually
between the two islands since 1920,
except between 1941-1947 because of the
Occupation.
The German occupying forces wanted
to take the Cup to Germany to be melted
down for funds for the Third Reich. The
Cup then mysteriously disappeared, but
was safely hidden and resurfaced after the
