ased at Bencoolen Meadow
in Cornwall, Bude RFC
currently competes in the
Tribute Cornwall/Devon League. They
are led by the team of President Frank
Vanstone and Chairman Julian Morris
and the club has made a considerable
amount of progress under their guidance.
This year sees the club celebrating its
50th anniversary having played their first
match against HMS. Raleigh at Devonport
in January 1966 with a team mainly made
up from players from local secondary
schools.
They have produced a number of
quality players over the years with many

going on to achieve County honours. They
have had two players in James Button and
Phil Vickery that went on to be capped at
under 16 level with Vickery going on to
represent England and the British Lions.
Bude RFC is a registered Community
Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and plays
an important role in the local area with
the pitch in the centre of the town and
just 300 yards from the sea. Bude itself
is situated on the North Cornish Coast
with a spectacular shoreline and is able to
offer golden beaches, surfing, canoeing,
kayaking, fishing, mountain boarding,
rock climbing and a golf course.
This makes Bude a popular destination
for touring clubs at all levels. As well as
a senior side they have also run a second
team, colts and most age groups in the
mini and junior sections.
So far this season their first team
has put together a terrific campaign
and currently sit proudly atop the table,
looking well set to wrap up the title. Up
to now they have put together a record of
twenty wins, a draw and two defeats from
their twenty-three match
