example of a club that is
achieving success on the field
and also playing a vital role in their local
community. Chairman Handel Davies
took the time to tell us more about the
good work that they have been doing
lately.
Atmosphere
He told us, “The mood is extremely
buoyant having got off to a flying start
under our new coaching team winning
the Principality Premiership 7’s for the
2nd successive year and following
that up by winning our first four
league games against Cross
Keys,
Llanelli,
Bridgend
and 50-0 over Ebbw Vale.
Everyone at the Club is
optimistic given this
great start and there is
a general belief that
we should have a
very good season
provided of course,
as always, that our
squad
remains
relatively
injury
free.”
Success
“Undoubtedly an important factor has
been the recruitment of a few top quality
players to complement our current
playing squad including full back Wil
Thomas who has played for Wales 7’s and
Cardiff Blues and goal kicking outside
half Jack Maynard.
The squad assembled at Church Bank
is a very young one by any standards
and our back line is not short of pace
with no fewer than five players having
represented Wales 7’s in recent years.
The challenge for our forward pack is to
provide them with enough ball to enable
them to showcase their talents which so
far this season they have been able to
do so scoring 18 tries in the first four
games much to the joy of our
supporters!”
