ortsmouth RFC is a fantastic
example of a well-run
community
establishment
that plays an important role in their
local area. Their Director of Rugby,
Nigel Morgan, recently took the time to
tell Rugby Club Magazine more about
the good work that they’ve been doing
lately.
He told us, “I have been a member
of PRFC since September 1975 when
I started teaching PE at Swanmore
College. My home club is Stroud RFC in
Gloucestershire.
“Besides playing for the 1st XV I have
also been Captain, Coach and Manager
before becoming DOR. I am also fix/
match sec/chair selection/disciplinary
chairman; basically I run the playing
side of the club. I am also Chairman of
Hampshire Disciplinary.
“In 1975, I moved to Portsmouth and
it was the closest club to where I lived,
but I also had a friend who I played with
at King Alfreds College, Winchester who
was already a member.
“We are the only club in Hampshire
who regularly puts out 5 sides every
Saturday and this is one of the most
challenging and rewarding aspects of my
