Southport FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Southport RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB S outhport RFC is a fantastic example of the success a club can achieve both on and off the field with a lot of hard work and good organisation. They have made tremendous progress in recent years and have made a storming start to their league campaign this season, winning their first eight matches. Rugby Club Magazine was keen to find out more about the good work they’ve been doing and with this in mind we caught up with their Chairman Steve Olive. Atmosphere He told us, “There’s a fantastic spirit at the club at the moment. We’ve a lot of players coming up through our mini/ juniors to play for us at senior level which really helps our identity. We define the culture of the club and there is a clear playing strategy in place now which we start in our mini and junior sections and that runs right the way through the club. This helps players to make the transition into the senior game. I think as we progress and grow we will need to welcome new players into our set up. It’s a great strength having all the minis and juniors coming through but we have to make sure that we are a friendly and welcoming club for all new players.” Volunteers “One of the things that is very strong at this club is the work of the volunteers. The grit and determination of a small group was what started the transition Southport club Info - www.southportrfc.com - Twitter : @SouthportRFC 4 Issue 59
