PAIGNTON ever since. I then became vice youth chair and was invited onto the board as communications director and am currently the Youth Chairman. “We hope to be challenging for promotion in both the 1st and 2nd XV league, with the ladies and girls teams establishing themselves with regular fixtures. We are offering the clubhouse out to other community groups and as a private hire venue and we have further development plans for the main changing room extension further improving facilities at Queens Park “Youth Rugby is very important to us - our Festival of Rugby was to engage with the local community and to get more kids playing rugby at our club - we are proud to have the reputation as a family friendly club and this ethos is still strong throughout our set up - it is a very proud moment when we have players make it through the youth section and into the seniors. To help the transition our colts train on the same night as the seniors and where appropriate become involved in joint training sessions so they are all known to each other before they are named in any senior squad. “We are always looking for community groups to come and use our facilities. We used to hold one of the largest firework displays in Torbay for Bonfire Night sadly this has had to cease as the cost of upholding these large displays became prohibitive due to the amount of red tap involved to run such an event. We plan to hold a Festival of Rugby every season so that everyone can come and give rugby a try (pun intended!). “As a location we have 6 other rugby clubs within a 10 mile radius of us, 2 of these are National 3 clubs so player retention is a big issue. This will always be an issue with players quite rightly want to test themselves at a higher level. “Our ambition is to play in a higher league and to have all other teams being competitive in whatever they are doing - leagues or festivals but still giving everyone that feel good factor the club currently has.” PRINTING • EMBROIDERY • ENGRAVING We are an embroidery, printing and sublimation company specialising in the personal touch.
