atton Rugby Club has enjoyed a terrific start to their 2015/16 campaign, winning their first ten league matches to put
themselves top of the table. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with their Director of Rugby, Nick Williams
to find out what has behind their success recently.
He told us, “I first joined the club as
a 6 year old (before mini rugby had been
introduced) playing 15 a side on a full pitch
for the Under 11’s. The club had only been
formed 2 years earlier in 1968. I went on to
play for all of the teams, 14 years at first team
level. At the age of 30 I took up refereeing and
had 20 very enjoyable years at all levels up
to what is now championship level. I retired
from refereeing 2 years ago and became DOR
at the club.
