Sadly now this has gone and this is my biggest challenge as Chairman. Most of the older returning players were all part of the junior section so if we don’t get it right in 20 years we will have no players to call back on.” Community “We are fully focused on being a community club. We have our club bookings right up to next year so the locals view it as part of the town. Our cricket section is also involved in this aspect; they are making great strides with their junior section.” Challenges “Player Retention and also the need for more volunteers are our biggest challenges. As a club we are financially ok at the moment but there is no point resting on your laurels. We need to reignite the junior section and build on all aspects of the rugby section. This will mean more hard work from our band of brothers and the Hessle family.” Ambitions “We would like to think we can at least improve the junior section. We are looking at two teams this season and we have now employed a head coach who is in fact a local school sports teacher so we are optimistic that we can achieve our goals. In regards to the seniors, we have a great 2nd team captain who is like a magnet drawing players from all over. This leads to some gems to be found and they continue into the 1st team, continue to build moral and hopefully with a good world cup we can draw on the interest created.” www.pitchero.com/clubs/hessle - Twitter : @HessleRugby www.sportip.biz 85
