Their Chairman, Malcolm King, recently took the time to give us an insight into their success. Involvement He told us, “I have been at the club 17 years now having started playing Rugby at a late age. The thing that most attracted me was the colourful Characters that were at the club. We had four teams back then and the Social side was very interesting to say the least. It has always been a great club and is proud of its grassroots status.” The Role “As Chairman, with a reduced amount of volunteers, I find that the time is made up of admin, especially as we are now accredited and also have Ltd company status. It’s almost like running a business. The Rugby side is also challenging and we are lucky to have some very supportive sponsors who make it easy to fund this part of the club. We were flooded 2 years ago and the club had to be totally refurbished which was a strain but now it’s done it is a really nice venue for social events and rugby.
