bradford on avon FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Thomas Firbank Removals Ltd, TFR, has been involved with sponsoring rugby in various different ways over the last 18 years. From the local Primary school to Bath Colts and for the past 9 years with Bath Rugby. As TFR grew we started to look at our marketing strategy and whether we were attaining the right level of return for our investment. During a touch line conversation last season Thomas met Chris Haynes, Youth Chairman at the club. The idea was quickly hatched and an informal Thomas Firbank R EMOVAL S LT D meeting was set up. What became clear very quickly was that TFR and Bradford on Avon Rugby had the same core values. The association made sense for both parties with TFR sponsoring the junior section of the club. Grass roots rugby involves parents standing and watching their children play and then washing the kit afterwards. With Thomas Firbank Removals on the shirt we hope to reach a target audience! The desire is that as both TFR and BoAR thrive the relationship builds and is beneficial for both www.firbankremovals.com 01225 314433 parties over the next three years. Thomas himself is delighted to be sponsoring BoAR and to see the pride the children have in wearing the kit. The effect on the children running out, all wearing the same kit, is massive and helps to build team spirit. and also support meeting challenge (d). Challenge (c) poses our biggest immediate challenge. We, and our fellow users lose the use of the facilities due to waterlogged pitches. We were unable to use pitches for 7 weeks last January and February, and we are already now experiencing waterlogged pitches. We did apply for a Lottery Improvement Fund Grant for a Floodlit 3G Pitch this last Spring, but were unsuccessful because the land that we were to be given was not deemed to be acceptable Partnership Funding. A 3G Pitch would enable our Minis and Juniors to enjoy continued rugby in inclement weather. It would enable all the Adult teams to train and play when the grass pitches are waterlogged. Hence enabling the achievement of our objective. • The provision of a playing surface that overcomes our current waterlogging by having a 3G pitch and by trying to improve the drainage of the site. • The development of the site to meet the area’s sporting demands, e.g. incorporating an athletics running track. We are underway with meeting challenges (a) and (b). We have Planning Permission for an extension, with a first floor, for a Gym and a Training and Storage Area. We are now at the stage of selecting contractors. This development is being done in two phases. The Gym, Training Area and Storage Area will be on the groundfloor as Phase 1 for which we have a Sport England Award to add to our funds. Phase 2 will require further fundraising and will enable challenge (b) to be met A local family practice helping businesses and individuals for over 30 years Call Jo Ellis on 01225 862259 www.rnthomas.co.uk Proud sponsors of 68 Issue 58
