Old Colfeians
Ambitions
“Our ambitions are to start a senior
ladies team and junior girls teams, (build
upon our current Minis girl membership),
develop facilities, (use the RugbyForce
weekend as a catalyst to engage all
club members, families and friends),
involve the local community even more
in club events, (open events inviting
local community in), expand current
links into local schools (more coaching
days, tournaments etc.) and develop our
coaches and referees to as high a standard
as possible.”
“John Nunn has been the rock on which
he and others have built and moved Old
Colfeians forward to be what we are
today. John is such a well-known person
within rugby and he always points out
that his passion is for OCRFC.
“He is our current President having
been in the post for 12 years. John has
been a true rugby man from the age of 18
to 78 (and still counting) and continues to
be actively involved at a number of levels.
In the past, he has run sides, run clubs,
set up clubs, run the catering functions,
swept changing rooms, put out flags and
posts, marked out pitches, washed team
kits and much much more....
““He often played every Saturday
(old Colfeians), Sunday (Blue Nuns) and
Wednesday (Tonbridge Wednesday) for
about 15 years, playing regularly until 50
and his last match in Harare (Zimbabwe)
was in 34 degrees at high altitude at the
age of 60! Possibly his proudest moment
came playing in the front row at the age of
50 with both of his sons - an entire family
front row.
“He was an RFU steward at
Twickenham for about 15 years and has
been Team Secretary and match secretary
for Kent Clubs XV and the full Kent
County side for 15 - 20 + years, continuing
to work on the committee for Kent
organising travel, fixtures etc.
“I’m delighted to say he has no
intention of retiring from Rugby. There
is probably so much more, John is an
unsung hero - he does not boast - he just
gets on with it and I’d like to take this
opportunity to thank him for all the work
that he has put into the club.”
