irstall Victoria ARLFC is based on White Lee
Road in West Yorkshire and they currently
compete in Division One of the Yorkshire
Men’s League. They are led by Chair Garry Beevers who
is supported by Secretary Mark Lockwood and the club
has made a considerable amount of progress under their
guidance.
They were first established in 1976 and have gone on to put
together a history of which they have every right to be proud.
They were the first side to win the Darryl Woollin Trophy with a
team that included Dick Jaziewicz and John Lyons who both went
on to play professionally.
They won the Woollin Cup again on their 10th anniversary
when they beat Thornhill 16-14 and have developed from a
traditional pub side into a community set up. Another of their
highlights came in the 1999-2000 season when they were crowned
Senior Division Champions and play-off champions.
In 2015 it would be fair to say that their first team did not
perhaps enjoy the campaign that they would have liked as they
put together a record of six wins and twelve defeats from their
eighteen matches. This saw them finish in the bottom half of the
table with twelve points.
There were some positives to take from the campaign however
and they will be keen to use these as a platform from which to
build for the future. So long as they are able to keep their players
together and perhaps make one or two quality additions they
should have a good chance of pushing on up the table next time
around.
