“Our plans for the season are very simple at all levels at
our club. We want to win as many games as possible, whilst
creating an enjoyable experience for all our members. We are
running three senior teams, an Academy side, and Veterans
each Saturday, and on a Sunday we have a hugely successful
Mini and Junior section, all of whom have won leagues or cups
last season, along with a thriving Ladies section.
“Our Mini and Junior section is immensely important to
us, and we are taking huge steps to lay sound foundations
for the future. Over the summer, in conjunction with Castor
Primary School, we have part funded a Schools Development
Officer who will work amongst other things, to encourage
local school children to take up the sport and then hopefully
develop into the sport and become part of our family.
“He is also involved in putting together inter school
competitions at our ground, and organizing rugby camps
during school holidays.
“We have also this season created an Academy side which
is intended to help develop our Youth section integrate into
senior rugby. Already the benefits are being seen, with some
of the more senior boys appearing in our 1st team.
“Over the next 5 years we still have many challenges,
but we are pleased with the progress we are making. Our
sponsorship streams are increasing, our facility is booked
almost every weekend for use by different organisations
within the community, our membership continues to grow,
and we are on a firm financial footing.
“Most importantly we have an extremely good, friendly
atmosphere in our club, and everyone has a smile on their face
again.
“The future is bright for The Club For All at Fortress
Fengate.”
