Peterborough FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Peterborough Peterborough RUFC is a terrific example of a friendly, inclusive set up that provides its community with an opportunity to enjoy rugby. Vice Chairman Alistair Bennett recently took the time to give Rugby Club Magazine an insight into the fine work being done at the club in recent times. He told us, “I became a member of Peterborough Rugby Club nearly 30 years ago and finally retired 4 years ago and took up the position of Club Captain, and at the beginning of last season became Vice Chairman, with specific responsibility to the playing side of our club.” “It is a very challenging, but rewarding role, and as part of a team of new Principal Officers, we belief we are creating an enjoyable environment for our members to be part of our ‘Rugby Family’. The mood at the club is better than it has been for years, and this has been achieved by bringing all of the different sectors within the club closer together, and giving them all an opportunity to have a voice in how the club is managed. “We had gone through a number of difficult seasons with relegations for our first team, financial difficulties, and in reality a club that had little heart, and a lot of individual groups doing their own thing. “With a lot of hard work we are turning things round. The main lounge area has been completely refurbished, the 40 Issue 58 car park resurfaced, and our pitches are the best in the region. Along with that we have created a new tag line ‘The Club For All’ which simply means what it says. Everyone is received with open arms; the only rule is that you have to want to be part of our family. “We have also created our own brand ‘Boro Est 1924’ which gives us a unique identity and is on all our club merchandise. We source this directly, allowing our Club Shop to offer our members good quality products at value for m o n e y prices.
