F
irst established in 1933, Old Saltleians RFC is
based on Watton Lane in Birmingham and their
first team currently competes in the Midlands 2
West (North) League. They are led by the team
of President Malcolm Richards and Chair Carl Lee and the
club has made a considerable amount of progress under their
guidance.
Having finished in 2nd place last season, their first team will
be keen to go one better this time around. They have made a
positive start so far, putting together a record of three wins and
just one defeat from their first four matches. This leaves them
sitting near the top of the table with twelve points on the board.
This should provide them with a good platform from which
to go on and challenge for the title. So long as they are able to
keep their current group of players together they will have a
fine chance of going all the way.
Old Saltleians is not a club to focus solely upon their senior
section however and this is reflected by the fact that they also
have a number of youth sides running. These teams look to
provide young players from the local area with an opportunity
to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst
helpi
