And, importantly, it would be used by Bradford on Avon
Youth Football Club, and local football and sports clubs
for winter training, and would generate an income stream
towards the running of the Club.
A 3G Pitch would certainly provide a playing surface to
overcome our inclement weather problem. Installation of
drainage at a cost of between £150,000 - £200,000 would, at
best, only be a partial solution, and may not be a solution
because of our geology. We are investigating this latter
option.
Challenge (d) is potentially very significant. The Rugby
Club ethos has always been that of a Community Sports
Club. The development of a wider range of sports facilities
will lead to the creation of a more sustainable Bradford on
Avon Sports Club.
A Running Track and a 3G Pitch along with the
current grass pitches could provide playing or training
surfaces for all outside sports. These would support the
implementation of Phase 2 of our extension and create a
truly first class sports facility for the area.
John Titcombe is incredibly passionate about supporting and sponsoring of youths
taking part in the life enhancing team sport, rugby.
“Rugby is not just a sport and an excellent way to keep fit, it builds comradery, an
outlet for children and a chance to build loyalty between team players, no matter
what shape or size their bodies are developing into. Bradford rugby club have been
hugely supportive of girls rugby, creating sections to accommodate U13’s to U15’s
and working closely with other local teams to share and get match time. It is clear
that it is important to Bradford to share players - they believe that this improves the
experience and develops everyone’s equal game and enjoyment. With Bradford, it’s
much more than simply beating the opposition” John Titcombe
