onsett RFC is a terrific example of what can be achieved with a strong set up and the future looks to be very bright
both on and off the field. Their Chairman, David Trott recently took the time to tell us more about what is going
on at the club.
Involvement
“I started playing rugby at school aged 12 for Chard in
Somerset before moving to Sleaford in Lincolnshire,
arriving in Consett in 1994; first as a player, then
junior coach before becoming senior XV coach in 2011.
Since being involved with rugby from such a young
age it was natural to join my local clubs as my working
commitments moved me and my family around the
country. This has brought us instant friends and helps
us integrate in new areas.”
The Role
“It has been a challenge working through the building
process of our new extension. Now complete, we are
progressing with a strategy to improve our rugby
offering to junior members placing us at the heart of
the local community for sports development, health
and wellbeing.”
