T his year Cornish Pirates are celebrating their 10th birthday and we are planning a year of celebration off the field and we aim for a similar celebration on the field. 7 years ago we started on a journey to gain consent to build a Stadium4Cornwall in Truro and for that new state of the art facility to become home to Cornish Pirates. On 30 July this year that long and at times frustrating battle became closer to reality when Cornwall Council granted consent for an enabling development to allow the Stadium to be funded through the private sector. The Stadium build will not cost a single penny to the local taxpayers of Cornwall Cornwall has a reputation of being a hotbed of rugby in England. Rob Saltmarsh, the Managing Director of INOX Group, the project developer says, “Cornwall in our opinion remains ‘a sleeping giant’ in the world of professional rugby and we share the Pirates excitement for the future and are pleased to be playing our part.” The Stadium4Cornwall will be a lot more than a rugby stadium.
