They are led by Chairman Simon Kemp who is supported by Secretary Peter Hawkins and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Last season they put together a steady campaign as they compiled a record of seven wins and thirteen defeats from their twenty matches. This saw them finish in a safe mid-table position with 35 points on the board. This should provide them with a solid platform upon which to build as they look ahead to the new season. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality additions then they should be in with a good chance of having a successful campaign. Head Coach Tom Carlier recently told www.thanetwanderers.co.uk about his plans for the side, saying, “My 24 Issue 57 overall ambition for the squad is to gain promotion to London 1 over the next two seasons and to achieve this I believe we need to encourage our players to stay at the club where they can help to raise the standard of play at Thanet and play with their mates rather than chase the dream of playing elsewhere. To do this we need the commitment of all the players to train hard and the encouragement of the rest of the club members to provide a vibrant environment for the players to excel in.” Thanet Wanderers is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a thriving youth set up. This part of the club looks to provide youngsters from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. It is important for any club to be able to produce their own talent, particularly in the current financial climate and this is an area that they appear to have covered. It will certainly be exciting to see how their juniors progress in the coming years. There is much to admire about the set up that Thanet Wanderers currently has in place and this is thanks to all of the hard work that has gone into making them a success. It is this that should enable them to look forward to a bright future. www.thanetwanderers.co.uk- Twitter : @thanetwanderers
