L
eicester Lions RFC is a terrific example of a well-run community establishment that is making progress both on and
off the field in recent times. They are based at Westleigh Park on Lutterworth Road and their first team currently
competes in National League 2 North.
We were keen to find out more about the
club and Press Officer Mike Howkins took
the time to tell us more about the good
work they’ve been doing lately. He told
us, “The players are back with a keen and
enthusiastic training regime. Last season

we had some good wins, but also some
disappointing defeats.
“National League Division 2 North is
competitive, with no easy wins. Players
have been keen to show their abilities at
this level. South Leicester RFC will be
joining National League 2 North for 201516 and look forward to a keenly contested
Leicester local derby.
“It sounds non-committal but I suppose
you could say that last season was
‘satisfactory’.
