ased on Rugby Road in Coventry, Broadstreet RFC currently competes in the National League 2 North. They are led by the
team of Chairman Garry Watts and President Don Branston and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under
their guidance.
Garry took the time to tell us more about
the good work that they have been doing
lately, saying, “I have just completed my
50th year with the club as a player and
administrator, joining straight from school
into the colts team, and continuing through
to the first team apart from a short spell
with Coventry, at that time they had 13
Internationals in the side, and was one of
the largest and most successful clubs in the
country.
“I recently at the end of last season played
with my two sons, brother and his son on
a tour to Perpignan in France, we all came
home unscathed and unbeaten; it was a
fabulous weekend. Having served on the
committee since I was a colt, and spent 25
years as chairman, with a 6 year break, I’m
back in the chair once again.
“When moving into the new club some
14 years ago it was like a dream, with the
Philip Costigan, a partner at club sponsor Band Hatton Button LLP took the time to tell us more about
their company and the positive association they have with Broadstreet RFC.
The Company
He told us, “Our firm is the result of an amalgamation in April 2013 between three of the leading legal
practices in Coventry, Band Hatton, Button Legal and Varley Hibbs to form the new firm of Band Hatton
Button LLP (incorporating Varley Hibbs). We provide a wide range of legal services, for both business
clients and private individuals. We are committed to the highest standard of client care and service.
Every one of our clients is important to us, and we try very hard to make our clients feel comfortable in
dealing with us.”
Broadstreet RFC
“We’ve been with the club for two seasons now. We got involved due to our commitment to working with
local sports clubs who, like ourselves, have a high reputation in the area. We would like to get along to
more games than we currently manage, but we do try and get along and support the Club where we can.
“From our point of view, supporting Broadstreet is a question of getting out into the community and
giving back something to that community. To support a local sports club in this way provides us with an
opportunity to do that, and to ensure that our name is known as far as possible in the local community.
“We are very proud to support Broadstreet RFC as well as other local sports clubs and we hope that
our small contribution, along with others, can give financial stability to the Club, to enable it to go from
strength to strength on and off the field.”
