SUPPORTING GRASS ROOTS RUGBY
Cowan Architects has been a committed supporter of
grass roots rugby since it became the new sponsor of East
Grinstead Rugby Football Club U12’s team nearly 3 years ago.
The Squad now boasts nearly 30 players and is enjoying an
enviable reputation always ending the season among the top
teams in its league.
But why does a business like Cowan Architects sponsor
Junior rugby in the first place? The Company’s first objective
was to get itself involved in the local community. Not only do
numerous clients come from the region but most of the staff
are local, so it provides a good boost to morale and shows
commitment to the community the Company serves.
“We also felt that this was a dedicated and energetic youth
project that met the Cowan Architects ideals and values,”
says keen rugby supporter and Managing Director, Phillip
Mumford. “It’s important to teach young people that hard work
and trying your best in a team environment is very rewarding –
particularly when you win! But obviously sharing the hardships
as part of a team is also a life skill”.
The Company has a number of rugby enthusiasts amongst
its staff which helps make the sponsorship a good choice. It
believes it shares the same synergies and ability to inspire
as grass roots rugby does. It’s also good to put the name in
